Mack Trucks is one of North America's largest producers of heavy duty trucks, with a sales network of over 670 dealers in 45 countries. Mack is currently owned by the Volvo Group with sales of approximately $27 billion each year. Mack is a leader in the trucking industry and has developed into an icon of American culture.

Challenge

Mack is a company that is focused on the customer. Every truck sold has been customized to meet the needs of an individual consumer. However, over time this approach to manufacturing became costly and error prone due to the large volume of Mack truck sales. Mack decided that they needed to streamline their ordering process in order to maintain their focus on the customer.

Solution

Mack Trucks and ADSnetcurve worked together to develop the MackTraq Configurator, a Windows-based software solution that is provided to every Mack dealer. This intuitive program walks the dealer and customer through every aspect of the specification process, from the truck's engine size to the color of the seats. MackTraq ensures that every truck spec is designed properly for manufacturing, while providing customers with the customization they need.

Results

Mack sold 20,000 trucks in 2004 and each truck was specified using the MackTraq Configurator. Mack has relied on the MackTraq software to increase productivity, decrease specification errors, and improve customer service for more than 15 years.
